Holidays can be a stressful time especially for those who have not grieved their losses. One particularly awful Christmas, a seemingly benign act concerning a ceramic musical Santa triggers a major brawl between myself and my three sisters.
Everyone suffers from loss and deals with it in their own way and in their own time. My family is not unique in that regard, but what I do notice is that we give power to objects and they come alive in our emotions. Most of the time this is a good thing, it keeps memories of a certain time and place alive and lets us share them with our children. Sometimes though, it can be a bad thing.
